01.16.12 - Happy 2012 everyone! 2011 was a stellar year for all in the BOOMJUICE camp. CQ put out the new Dormlife album "Mustard is the New Ketchup" and Vapor put out his last solo record "Its Moving So Fast Its Standing Still" in March of 2011. In other news, CQ has made a graceful transition to New York with his wife to take on a new career opportunity and also the couple have a little one on the way as well! Vapor Eyes has been staying busy in Chicago gigging around the region and working on new albums (1 instrumental album and also another solo hip-hop record) to be put out in the first half of this year. Over the holiday season Vapor and CQ were able to reunite for a couple studio sessions and unearthed all the 'lost' BOOMJUICE material. There's plenty that still remains in the digital vaults and will at some point be completed and sent to your eardrums. In the meantime, life is moving forward at a rapid pace and we just want to be there to take it all in. You'll hear from us soon! 12.09.10 - Happy winter to all. We're very pleased to say that amidst the bitter cold we'll be hitting the stage for the first time in a while this Saturday, December 11th for our first time together performing at the legendary Metro in Chicago! We open the gig and go on at 8pm sharp for those who plan to come out. In other late breaking news, Capriquarius has bravely decided to pack it all up and leave it all behind for a new career opportunity awaiting him in New York this January. So this Saturday very well might be the last chance you get in a really long time to catch us live as a duo. This is not considered a breakup as technology these days can still provide us with a means of creating with one another virtually, however live performances won't be any easy task after the move. Also we should report that both of us have been crankin hard on our own individual projects as well. CQ has been workin hard at getting the new Dormlife album together and Vapor Eyes is slated to have his new full-length solo album out in early 2011 as well! So there'll be plenty of new music comin' from our camp, no worries on that. Be sure to come check us out this Saturday and wish Capriquarius many blessings on his new leg of the journey! It means September’s almost here , bringing with it the official public release of Mixing In Action, our new mixtape styled EP! The release will feature 8 songs spotlighting our signature rhyming/singing style combination over our edits of beats by the likes of Dam-Funk, Big Gigantic, Prepschool, Pete Rock and more! We can’t wait for you to hear what we came up with for this one… so stay tuned in here to grab the free download upon its release early next month. Artwork is being finalized and then this 8 song treat will be coming at you sometime this August. The release is entitled “Mixing In Action” and features us doing our own edits and laying down our combination rapping/singing style vocals over eight different beats, both current and classic, that were some of our favorites by other producers. So in essence this is a little summer goodie we cooked up together in the lab before really getting going on another full-length. We are super happy with how it turned out and can’t wait for you all to get your ears on it. In the meantime, come hear us perform our jams, new and old, at Duck Fest 2010 this Saturday down in Martinton, IL. Peace! 07.08.10 - Yoyoyo, we are still alive! Its been awhile since our last update but we've def been on the grind. Summer has been a blast so far and we've been keepin busy with new music and in other areas of our personal lives the past couple months. We've been steady working at completing our new mixtape styled EP Mixing In Action and should have it out by the end of August. We definitely think you're gonna enjoy it as this release is a little different and challenged us to step outside the box yet again. We're looking forward to wrapping up the recording in the next week or so then taking it to Dan Precision to mix/master in late July or early August. Also, our next live performance is scheduled for Duck Fest 2010 which takes place over the last weekend of July in Martinton, IL. We'll keep you posted when we have the concrete time details and such. Until then, enjoy this beautiful summer. We certainly are, and are making the best of it considering the limited 3-4 month seasonal span here in Chicago with some decent weather. We have just been added on the bill at the Double Door on Friday, May 21st. Headliners A&R are having a final throwdown before they head out to New York to pursue dreams of musical success out East and asked us to come rock it with em. They are super talented dudes and we are stoked to be a part of this experience and wish them many blessings on their journey. Oh yeah, its a FREE show too, and on a FRIDAY, so get your party ass up and out to Wicker Park that nite and come see some dope homegrown Chicago talent. Other than that we've just been steady crackin' on our next release "Mixing In Action," which is going to be a mixtape styled EP, set to be released sometime this summer. Come kick off the spring season with us and some really dope local talent. After a week of interesting shows in Chicago and the burbs, we have officially released our Crunk In Public EP on limited edition, hand-numbered cassettes! That's right, cassette tapes. Old-school. Analogue. Fun. Collectible. That's what its all about for us. Believe it or not we both still bump cassette tapes at home and in the car on the regular. Sometimes keeping around old media is way easier than having to repurchase or digitize collections, plus there's some sentimental value to it all. To us, a cassette has always been a convenient form of music listening and also if the album is dope all around there's no need for skipping tracks, we just let the tape play through, over and over. Lately we've been jammin' on old cassettes by Pete Rock & CL Smooth, New Order, Todd Terry and Brand Nubian. You can swoop one of our new Crunk In Public tapes up on our merch page or at our shows for only five bucks. In other good news, we're pleased to announce an upcoming show with underground rap hero CAGE on 6/22 at Reggie's. We've been on the grind over the last month after the release of our Crunk in Public EP and have already been working on tons of new demos for upcoming releases. We've been getting prepped up to drop another special bonus type EP sometime before summer and also taking stabs at new ideas for full-length #2. In other cool news, we will have the music video up for "Runway Jam" once and for all before the end of March! We'd like to thank our good pal Wyatt at Notebook Entertainment for going all out for us on this one. And on one last note, you can catch us performing live this Friday nite (3/19) in downtown Chi at Hop Haus (646 N. Franklin Ave).
